DAY 01  Arrival and first impressions

Maun → Jedibe Airstrip → Setari Camp

Welcome to Botswana. After arriving in Maun, you will be assisted onto a shared light-aircraft safari flight towards Jedibe Airstrip, enjoying views of the changing waterways and islands below. Meet your guide and continue by motorboat through the channels to Setari, where a warm welcome and lunch or refreshments await. Settle into your elevated tented suite and spend time on its private deck listening to the sounds of the Delta. If flight timings allow, head out for a short introductory boat safari, then enjoy your first sundowner and dinner in the wilderness.

DAY 02  On the water: boat and mokoro safaris

Explore permanent channels, lagoons and reed beds

Rise with the birds for breakfast and set off on a guided motorboat safari. Your guide introduces the delicate rhythm of this wetland ecosystem as you pass water lilies, papyrus beds and palm-fringed islands. Look out for fish eagles, kingfishers, herons, hippos and crocodiles, with wildlife sightings always dependent on nature. After a leisurely lunch and time to enjoy the pool or your deck, switch to a traditional mokoro for a quieter, close-to-water journey guided by an expert local poler. Return to camp for sunset refreshments and a relaxed dinner.

DAY 03  A deeper journey into the Delta

Extended excursion and guided island nature walk

Today, leave camp after breakfast for a longer exploration of the southern waterways and secluded islands. Cruise along changing channels as your guide interprets bird calls, floodplain vegetation and the signs of wildlife. Where water levels and safety conditions permit, step ashore for a guided bush walk to discover tracking, insects, medicinal plants and the small details that make this landscape extraordinary. Enjoy a picnic lunch in nature before a gentle return to camp. Spend your final Delta evening around the campfire or on the raised viewing deck, watching the sunset colours spread across the water.

DAY 04  Fly to Gham Dhao – enter the Kalahari

Jedibe Airstrip → Gham Dhao Airstrip

After breakfast, bid farewell to the Okavango and transfer back to the airstrip for your shared charter connection to Gham Dhao. Watch as the scenery shifts from waterways and palm islands to dry woodland and sweeping savanna. At Gham Dhao Lodge, your hosts welcome you into this intimate wilderness retreat on the northern edge of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. Enjoy lunch, settle into your tented accommodation and rest during the heat of the afternoon. Later, depart on your first guided 4x4 game drive through the private reserve, ending with a Kalahari sunset and dinner back at the lodge.

DAY 05  Kalahari wildlife and a walk with the San

Morning game drive • cultural learning experience

Wake before sunrise for a warming drink and an early game drive, when soft light and cooler temperatures often encourage wildlife activity. With your guide, search the private reserve for antelope, desert-adapted wildlife and the extraordinary birdlife of the Kalahari. Each sighting offers a story about survival in a semi-arid environment. Following brunch or lunch and time to relax, join the lodge’s San cultural walking experience, subject to the day’s programme. Learn from local San guides about reading tracks, traditional knowledge of plants and the enduring relationship between people and this landscape. As the day closes, enjoy sundowners and dinner before stepping outside to admire the stars.

DAY 06  The Kalahari at your own pace

Safari photography • game drive • sunset under vast skies

Set off once more in the morning with your guide to explore fresh tracks and different areas of the reserve. Every game drive is unique: you may come across herds, fascinating bird species, a predator’s spoor or a remarkable view that deserves a moment of quiet appreciation. Return to the lodge for lunch, an afternoon swim or simply time to rest and savour the solitude. Later, venture out for a final afternoon game drive, pausing to enjoy the last golden light of the Kalahari. A night drive may be possible by prior arrangement and subject to the lodge programme; it should not be assumed to be included without confirmation.

DAY 07  |  FAREWELL BOTSWANA

Enjoy a final breakfast in the Kalahari before transferring to the lodge airstrip for your shared charter flight back to Maun. Look out across the wilderness one last time, taking home memories of quiet Delta waterways, wonderful wildlife encounters, the warmth of your hosts and the unforgettable skies of Botswana.
